Patience Pending

This blog is basically designed to function as a band website. There are pages where viewers can buy merchandise, listen to music, see photos of the band and watch videos. However, since it is a blog, posting by non-members would play a larger role than normal. Visitors would be encouraged to post their feedback regarding a song or show, photos they took at performances or elsewhere, and even opportunities to perform at a venue they own or know of. Granted, these posts would be strictly monitored by page administrators.

Andrew Dorsey and Austin Collins originally started the band as a blues and jazz group, believe it or not. That would have been around April of '09 during a Fine Arts competition they both competed in. After Caleb and Laurent joined (Andrei's membership was always a given, him being Austin's brother and all) it was fairly obvious we weren't exactly cut out to be a blues group. Laurent's foot is inseparable from the double bass pedal and Caleb... well you'd understand if you knew the guy. In short we decided alternative rock was a much better idea. We didn't do much until late November when we decided to participate in the Crave Student Ministries' Battle of the Bands. Since then we've been writing new material and playing when and where we can. Scheduling is a challenge but we manage to get things done.

As far as our bands' beliefs, we're all Christians. While we don't particularly want to be labeled as a "Christian Band," our faith does influence and guide our music and actions. We want to reach all audiences, but our faith is our first priority.

As a band we have many influences, most prominent among them being Anberlin, Emery, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Blue October and Project 86. There is a full list of influences on our Facebook page.

Though everyone contributes to the writing of each song, most lyrics are Dorsey’s, and Austin writes a few here and there. Austin and Caleb write all the music.

Andrew Dorsey, our lead singer is a freshman in college, where he participates in multiple choirs and theater. He’s been writing lyrics since early in high school but until now hasn’t had opportunities to use them.

Laurent McKinley, our drummer, is a junior in high school. He has been drumming for a while but like everyone else, this is his first band.

Our bassist, Caleb Hanson, is also a junior. He and Austin have known each other since first grade and wanted to start a band since seventh, but were neither good enough nor able to find other players until their sophomore year. Besides playing bass, Caleb is also the graphics and merch design artist and manages online interactions.

Andrei Collins, who plays keys, is in eighth grade, making him the youngest member. He along with Caleb was involved in early planning for a band.

Austin Collins, the guitarist, is the group’s third junior. He started guitar in sixth grade, but this is his first successful non-affiliated band.
